Hart’s Access

Hart’s’s Access, Dan River Trail, at NC Highway 704 (Stokes County; don’t confuse this access with the one in Madison, NC, in Rockingham County, where the river is crossed by NC 704 farther downstream). Hart’s Access is located river left, 1.9 miles east of the intersection of NC Highways 704 and 89.

Hanging Rock Access

Dan River Trail at NC Highway 89. From Danbury, NC, travel 2.75 miles northwest on NC Highway 89, turn left on Flinchum Road (unpaved). Follow Flinchum Road approximately 0.35 miles to the ample parking area and access.


Moratock Park Access

Moratock Park Access, Dan River Trail, Town of Danbury, NC. From NC Highway 89 travel east on Sheppard Mill Road, for less than 0.5 miles. Cross the Dan River. Both sides of Sheppard Mill Road are in Moratock Park. At the east end of the bridge turn right on unpaved one-lane track lined with dogwood trees, continuing 0.5 miles to boat landing steps. On left see the 1843 Moratock Iron Furnace and North Carolina Civil War Trail marker.
